Saint Godfrey of Amiens, born around 1066 near Soissons, was a Benedictine monk at Corbie Abbey before becoming abbot of Nogent-sous-Coucy. In 1104, he was elected Bishop of Amiens. His episcopate was marked by a deep commitment to the moral reform of the clergy and the faithful, the defense of the Church's rights against feudal lords, and great charity towards the poor. He faced many difficulties, including rebellions from the bourgeoisie of Amiens, but persevered in his duties until his death in 1115. He is venerated for his integrity and holiness.
