Born in Remiremont in 1576, Alix Le Clerc, under the influence of Saint Peter Fourier, initiated a communal and religious life dedicated to education. Despite her initial worldly youth, she underwent a profound conversion and founded, with the support of Peter Fourier, the Congregation of Notre Dame. Her pioneering work led to the establishment of numerous schools for girls, offering free and spiritual instruction, and played a crucial role in the development of female education in Lorraine and beyond. Beatified in 1947, she stands as an example of perseverance and dedication to the cause of education.
