Mary Magdalene

Mary Magdalene is one of the most significant figures in the Gospels after Jesus Christ. Hailing from Magdala, a town on the Sea of Galilee, she is depicted as a devoted disciple of Jesus, accompanying him on his travels and supporting him financially. She is mentioned as having been freed from seven demons (Luke 8:2). She was present at Jesus' crucifixion, remaining at the foot of the cross when many other disciples had fled. She is most famous for being the first witness to Jesus' Resurrection. Jesus first appeared to her after his resurrection, and he commissioned her to go and announce the good news to the apostles, earning her the title 'Apostle to the Apostles' (Apostola Apostolorum). Her figure has been the subject of numerous interpretations and legends throughout history, but her central role in the Resurrection narrative remains a cornerstone of Christian faith.
