Patrick of Ireland

Saint Patrick, born Maewyn Succat around 385 in Roman Britain, was kidnapped at the age of 16 by Irish pirates and sold into slavery. For six years, he worked as a shepherd in Ireland, a period during which his faith deepened significantly. After receiving a vision, he escaped and returned to his family. Later, he had another vision calling him to evangelize Ireland. Ordained a priest and then a bishop, he returned to Ireland around 432 as a missionary. He famously used the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity and converted many kings and tribal chiefs, establishing monasteries and firmly rooting Christianity on the island. He is often regarded as the Apostle of Ireland. His writings, especially the "Confessio", bear witness to his life and faith. He died around 461.
