Marco Passionei studied law at Perugia and Padua before entering the Capuchins at Fano in 1584, renouncing the career his family opened to him. In 1600 he was sent to reinforce the mission Lawrence of Brindisi had been leading since the previous year in Bohemia, Austria and Styria, among Hussites and Lutherans; he stayed two years and there chose preaching over controversy. Returning to Italy, he died there in 1625 and was beatified in 1867.
