Portrait — Nino of Georgia

Born in Cappadocia (modern-day Turkey), Saint Nino is venerated as the Apostle and Enlightener of Georgia. According to tradition, she arrived in Georgia, then the Kingdom of Iberia, around 320 AD. Through her miracles of healing and her preaching of the Gospel, she gained the trust of Queen Nana and King Mirian III. Her faith and divine signs led her to convince King Mirian to convert, resulting in the adoption of Christianity as the state religion in 337. Her influence was fundamental for the establishment of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
