Saint Brigid of Kildare, celebrated on February 1st, is one of Ireland's patron saints. Born around 451 in Faughart, near Dundalk, County Louth, she died around 525 in Kildare. She was a monastic founder, most notably establishing a double monastery (for men and women) in Kildare, which became a significant center of religious life and learning in Ireland. Brigid is renowned for her charity, miracles (including the multiplication of butter and healings), and devotion. She is often depicted with a St. Brigid's Cross and a lamp, symbolizing her faith and the light she brought. She is revered as a pivotal figure in Celtic Christianity.
