Mary Mother of Jesus

Mary, or Miriam in Hebrew, is the mother of Jesus of Nazareth. According to the canonical Gospels, she was a young Jewish woman from Nazareth, Galilee. She was chosen by God to conceive Christ through the Holy Spirit, while remaining a virgin. She played a central role in Jesus' life, from his birth to his crucifixion. She is venerated in Christianity for her faith, her obedience to divine will, and her unique role in the salvation of humanity. Her life is marked by key events such as the Annunciation, the Nativity, the Presentation in the Temple, the flight into Egypt, and her presence at the foot of the Cross. She is considered the Theotokos (Mother of God) by the Council of Ephesus and is a model of purity and devotion for believers. Christian traditions believe in her Assumption into heaven, body and soul.
